“I firmly believe in small gestures: pay for their coffee, hold the door for strangers, over tip, smile or try to be kind even when you don’t feel like it, pay compliments, chase the kid’s runaway ball down the sidewalk and throw it back to him, try to be larger than you are— particularly when it’s difficult. People do notice, people appreciate. I appreciate it when it’s done to (for) me. Small gestures can be an effort, or actually go against our grain (“I’m not a big one for paying compliments…”), but the irony is that almost every time you make them, you feel better about yourself.”

this isn’t all that there is!!! there are sunsets you haven’t seen, people you haven’t met, things you haven’t learned, food you haven’t tried, and places you haven’t visited. life is so much more than what you’re experiencing right now, and there will always be new things coming. there’s so much more out there for you!!

I think it’s important to remember that sometimes self care is doing something you don’t really want to do but will help you in the future.

getting that glass of water, doing your laundry or starting that project that’s been looming over you might not be the most romantic thing to do but your future self will thank you for it.

by making life that tiny bit easier for future you you are giving yourself a gift, just like you would a friend, partner or loved one. you are as worthy of an easier future as everyone else and showing yourself that kindness is like offering a guiding hand. you deserve to care for yourself.

Self-care is constant practice of not letting more pain accumulate. It is about continually remembering that our lives are of value. It is active process of settling our nervous system so that we have more access to the present moment.

How do you know if the person is someone you want to be with for the rest of your life?

blossomfully:

I think the easy answer is: you know. You just know.

I think the more complicated answer is this.

They make your life easier. Happier. They support you. They help you grow. They empower you. They never make you doubt whether you are worthy and deserving of love. They listen to you. They try. They make you a better person. They respect you. They complement you.

And, most importantly, you do all of the above for them too.
